How to select CPU, RAM, NVMe, RAID and network

The cards below are a sizing framework, not a promise of a fixed configuration. Start with measurements from the current environment, include growth and failure scenarios, then verify compatibility and current availability in the configurator.

CPU

Compare core count with per-core performance, application parallelism, peak load and licensing rules. A larger core count does not always replace faster individual cores.

RAM

Use the measured working set, database cache, virtual-machine density and memory growth. Leave operational headroom instead of sizing exactly to today's peak.

Storage and RAID

Select NVMe for latency and IOPS, SSD for balanced performance, and HDD for capacity-oriented repositories. RAID improves resilience but is not a backup.
